Susan P. Ritter

Sue Parsons Ritter currently serves as the Chief of Staff and Deputy General Counsel at Middlebury College. She joined the college in 2008 after a 22-year career as a trial lawyer. In her current role, she works closely with the president, the board of trustees, community members and elected officials.  

Sue is a 1983 graduate of Middlebury College, and a 1986 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law. She has served on numerous local boards, including Eastview at Middlebury (founding board chair), United Way of Addison County, Porter Medical Center, Porter Hospital Auxiliary, College Street Children’s Center, Addison County Chamber of Commerce, Mary Hogan School, Addison County Grammar School, and the Middlebury Congregational Church. She also served as hearing panel member for the Vermont Professional Responsibility Board. Sue currently resides in Middlebury with her husband, Bob, a 1982 Middlebury College graduate and long-time head football coach at Middlebury College.
